Carpet work
Carpet floors we have fitted. These photographs show stairs, landings, or both, because that is where carpet fitting is hardest to hide and where it is worth photographing.
The frames
Carpet floors, described one at a time
A selection of carpet fitting, shown frame by frame: treads, turns, landings and doorways.
Grey, on a straight staircase
Fitted tread by tread and riser by riser, cut in tight against the strings on both sides.
Stripes up a flight
The stripes run straight up each tread and hold their line through the turn at the top.
A patterned straight flight
The pattern kept square and centred step after step, which is settled when the carpet is set out rather than as it goes down.
A turn in grey
Winder treads taper, so no two are the same shape and each is cut and folded to its own.
Stripes across a landing
Carried on through a doorway and along to the head of the stairs.
A pale landing
Pale carpet shows every edge, so the cuts round the balustrade and into the doorways are all on view.
Grey across a landing
Finished at each doorway against the next floor with a threshold bar.
Looking down from a landing
The landing and the flight below it, in one patterned run down to the hall.
